Former President Bill Clinton, reputed for his legendary consumption of snack foods, has made a surprise move. In an effort to drop weight before his daughter Chelsea's (vegan) wedding, the father of the bride gave up meat and dairy products, becoming a vegan. (He admits to eating fish on rare occasions.)

Jamie Smith's (The xx) solo debut single

This is the debut solo offering from xx producer Jamie Smith.  The single, called "Far Nearer",  is due out next month from Numbers Records.

Here is a video of one of my favorite songs by The xx in case you're unfamiliar.  This is actually the first time I've ever seen this video and it's a really interesting concept.  "Video Purgatory"

CA’s Prop. 19

There's an article to go along with this video @ FoxNews.com.  It's pretty much word for word what this video says though.

Stoned Driving

Stoners are better drivers than the average person. Of course there are exceptions, but that fact probably isn't surprising to any stoner. It may however sound ludicrous to the layman who, for some reason, has made a permanent comparison between alcohol and marijuana.

This video shows exactly what it means when we say stoners are more focused drivers. The video starts with a statistic saying that cannabis has been linked to more and more accidents. He let's you know this doesn't actually mean that marijuana caused the accident, it just means that more people are smoking cannabis in general; and because it stays in your system longer it's found in the blood of more people during autopsies.

Obama on his encounter with Bob Dylan

Back in February Bob Dylan performed “The Times They Are A-Changin’” for President Obama and the First Family as part of a celebration for music from the Civil Rights era. That was a while ago, sure, but we just got Obama’s impressions on it now via a Rolling Stone cover story, impressions that might make you want to revisit Dylan’s visit.

"Here’s what I love about Dylan: He was exactly as you’d expect he would be. He wouldn’t come to the rehearsal; usually, all these guys are practicing before the set in the evening. He didn’t want to take a picture with me; usually all the talent is dying to take a picture with me and Michelle before the show, but he didn’t show up to that. He came in and played “The Times They Are A-Changin’.” A beautiful rendition. The guy is so steeped in this stuff that he can just come up with some new arrangement, and the song sounds completely different. Finishes the song, steps off the stage… comes up, shakes my hand, sort of tips his head, gives me just a little grin, and then leaves… That was our only interaction with him. And I thought: That’s how you want Bob Dylan, right? You don’t want him to be all cheesin’ and grinnin’ with you. You want him to be a little skeptical about the whole enterprise."

Here's a video of the performance:

Deerhunter - Helicopter (Diplo & Lunice Remix)

This is a video of Arcade Fire performing the song themselves back in August for the same UNSTAGED series.

MGMT, pissed on.

According to Pitchfork, who quote an Ace Showbiz post, a “fan” at their show in Manchester, England Sunday night threw a glass full of urine at the stage, striking drummer Will Berman in the chest. He left the stage and wouldn’t come back (since he was likely freaking out and changing clothes backstage). It took the band another song to realize he had left. They begged him to return for the last couple songs, but had to do “Kids” and the rest of the set to a pre-recorded drum track.

1017 Bricksquad x Flockaveli

Rap music's newest rising star Juaquin Malphurs, better known as Waka Flocka Flame, will release his debut album Flockaveli on October 5th. Born in Queens, NY and raised in Atlanta, GA, Waka is the first artist to release an album under mentor Gucci Mane's 1017 Bricksquad imprint. The 17-track album features appearances from Wale, Roscoe Dash, Pastor Troy, and Young Money's Gudda Gudda among others, and was largely helmed by 19-year old Lexus "Lex Luger" Lewis whose biggest hits include Rick Ross' "B.M.F (Blowin' Money Fast)" and "MC Hammer." Fans can expect more "flocka music" from the LP, a style the rapper has coined that embodies high-energy, bass heavy music that embodies the fury found in acts like NWA and Onyx with a heavy southern influence that picks up where Lil' John's Crunk music left off. "You're gonna need some Gatorade or have to get your neck checked after listening to this," warns Waka. "The whole thing bangs from start to finish."

Catch Waka Flocka Flame's performance on this year's BET Hip-Hop Awards where he is nominated for "Rookie of the Year" and "Best Club Banger" for "O Let's Do It" (airs October 12th).

MC Hammer vs. Jay-Z [lol]

In a song recently leaked by Kanye West, which featured Jay-Z (amongst others), Jigga said this:
And Hammer went broke so you know I’m more focused
I lost 30 mil so I spent another 30
Cause unlike Hammer 30 million can’t hurt me."

In response, Hammer posted this Tweet:

Then he said that Halloween would not be a good night for Jay-Z.  He also posted this video:

All I can say is, hahahahahahahahahahaha.... I can't wait to see where this goes.

NBA Gets New Jerseys for 2010-11 Season

Adidas is unveiling their Revolution 30 jersey this year to coincide with the busy free agent migration this past summer and six teams who’ve totally revamped their uniforms.

"The new uniforms, which are made from 60 percent recycled materials, feature adidas’ Formotion technology, which reduces seams, decreases friction between the garment and the player’s skin and optimizes the player’s natural movement through specially constructed material. adidas reduced uniform weight and increased player comfort by switching front and back numbers from heavier, dense materials to breathable mesh. The new uniform absorbs moisture in less than three seconds as a result of adidas CLIMACOOL fabrics, which move heat and sweat away from the body through a combination of moisture management materials, ventilation channels, and three-dimensional garments, helping the uniform dry twice as fast."

Article by Boss Lady @ DrJays.com
Full article here

I sat down with Curren$y at Damon Dash‘s DD172 gallery space to discuss his role as female streetwear brand Married To The M.O.B.’s first ambassador for their new line of men’s tees.
With a joint hanging out the side of his mouth throughout the entire interview, Curren$y touches on the funny story of how he met MTTM’s Founder/CEO, Leah McSweeney, his upcoming album Pilot Talk 2(and its Knight Rider theme), his affinity for marijuana and dislike of hip-hop’s latest sub-genre, “weed rap.”
